Niagara Parks - Open Doors Event
brief
Measure and monitor footfalls along with providing real-time behavioural insights about their visitors to their management and stakeholders during this once in a lifetime opportunity.
back story
In October 2019, Niagara Parks, in partnership with the Ontario Heritage Trust, hosted a sold-out public event at the Canadian Niagara Power Station as part of the province-wide Doors Open Ontario program. 3,200 free tickets for self-guided tours sold out in less than an hour. The overwhelming enthusiasm and interest garnered by the event was an important factor in Niagara Parks decision to move forward confidently with the adaptive reuse project.
It was decided to measure the full experience to understand how attendee’s interacted with the space during the self-guided tours.
solution
We installed 12 sensors throughout the space where we measured how attendees interacted with the different elements and the talks during the event.
Mapping visitor movement from entry to exit, including dwell time, engagement and crossover.
outcome
On July 1st, 2021, a new landmark attraction will open just south of the Horseshoe Falls in Niagara Parks. By day, visitors can explore the preserved interior of the historic power station, transformed with new exhibits and guest amenities, while each night, an immersive sound & light experience brings the building to life through state-of-the-art projection mapping technology.
